I think it looks fine... i wouldn't change it back. If you are unsure maybe paint it a bit darker, but i really like the look of a different colored cabinets in a kitchen... IT ADDS CHARACTER!!
I like it painted. It gives a vocal point in the room and more dimension. I go w/Amanda . . . if you are unsure paint it a darker color. But I like it better than white. :)
I agree: go darker. I think darker would compliment the wood better. But I'm just jealous you have a kitchen to call your own. We are trying to buy currently....I envy the day when I can have such decisions :)
warning change in topic: Question: Can we do the LSU or Mississippi game?
First of all if you got that paint at Walmart you should take it back and tell them that it is not the gray you want and trade it for black. Then paint it darker as suggested and antique it. Now that I've given you the same advice as everyone else do what you want. :) Good Luck!
p.s. if you want a maroony red color than I've got some paint that you can use. It's the color of my sewing table on my blog.

i'm not crazy about it either. i think it would've looked better black antiqued red. but it doesn't look awful. i like the white better than the grey.

I say go darker!!! If you want grey I would go almost black or a dark red!! Or you could distress black!! Good Luck with it.
